Ever wanted to know exactly what is going on with a computer you
own but don't have direct access to? We didn't but one of our 'high spending'
clients did - this is how it has all begun:
This dear client of ours had bought a computer for his son and
soon after had to travel on business for an extended period of time. For reasons
we can't share on this page, he wanted to know exactly what his son is doing
with the new computer so he came to us for help.
We soon put our heads together and created a tiny (less than
250K) application file, gave this file to our devoted client and explained:
Should this file is executed on the target computer your son is using - all
keystrokes, active applications, passwords, visited websites, emails, chats etc. will be recorded and sent to you once a day by email. We added
that this will be done without ever effecting the performance of the target
computer and without anyone noticing.
Our client was never so exited (even more than when writing us
a check...). He immediately sent an email to his son with our new executable
file as an attachment. He then called his son and asked him to double-click
(run) the file. Unfortunately, our story got a little more complicated when it
turned out that the current relationship between father and son made the son to
delete all emails from his father without ever opening them.
We yet again came up with a nice solution. We wrote a simple
utility (called TopMail) that enables anyone to send an anonymous email from any
email address. The executable file was sent to our hero's son again - this time
from an email address that the father knew would not be ignored.
The results came out immediately - after about 30 minutes our
client got the first KeySpy email notifying him that KeySpy was installed
successfully on the son's computer. Once a day from that moment - the father is
getting an email containing all keystrokes made on that computer. The end of the
story we can't share with you but we can promise it was an happy end.
This success story made us think, why not enhance our software
and put it in a package that can be shared on the web. We hope the IIPwr package
will help you at least as it helped the hero of this story.
